Difficult connectivity
Most platforms assume a good connection. Yours does not have one.
A link with 400 ms of latency, 6 % packet loss and two outages a day is not a fault: it is daily life for a great many companies. Konvoice is designed for that network, not only for the fibre in a demo room.
The principle
Do not depend on what is not reliable.
The right answer to a poor link is not better compression: it is not needing to cross it at all.
Traffic stays local
Internal calls never leave the building. A satellite or 4G link is used only for administration and for getting out to the outside world.
Suitable codecs
Variable-bitrate Opus, which adjusts to the real bandwidth rather than saturating and dropping. G.729 when the link is genuinely narrow.
Loss tolerance
Error correction and packet redundancy switched on automatically when loss passes a threshold. A conversation stays intelligible at 8 % loss.
Voice traffic first
QoS marking on the packets, and on the Edge, priority given to calls over synchronisation, logs and AI.
On the ground
A link almost never goes down cleanly.
It degrades. Throughput collapses at lunchtime, latency doubles when it rains, one packet in twenty is lost with nothing reporting a fault. A platform that only plans for all-or-nothing spends the day in the worst possible state: reachable, and unusable.
- Throughput is measured continuously, not tested at installation.
- The codec follows the measurement — Opus adjusts rather than saturating and then dropping.
- Voice goes ahead of everything — synchronisation, logs and AI wait their turn.
- Failover is a threshold, not a fault — the Edge takes over before the call becomes inaudible.
Order of priority
When bandwidth runs short, here is what gets sacrificed.
This order is written into the product, not left to the accidents of congestion. The AI never steals the resources telephony needs.
- 1. Calls in progress — nothing goes ahead of them.
- 2. SIP signalling — so that new calls can be set up.
- 3. Emergency calls — absolute priority on set-up, ahead of any other outbound call.
- 4. Handset provisioning, then call logs, then synchronisation, then analytics.
- Last. The AI — transcription waits, indefinitely if it has to.
A 256 kbit/s link
Three simultaneous external calls in reduced-bitrate Opus, unlimited internal calls locally.
A saturated link
Log and recording uploads are suspended. The calls do not notice.
A cut link
The site switches to standalone. External calls take the local line if there is one.
A restored link
The backlog clears gradually, never monopolising bandwidth at the calls’ expense.
The worst-connected site in your company is the one that needs the phone most.

Sovereign mode
When nothing may leave the site, absolutely nothing.
Some organisations cannot send a call log over the internet: classified sites, critical infrastructure, ships, operations in isolated areas. Konvoice exists in a version that needs no outbound link at all.
No network egress
The complete platform runs on your servers. No outbound calls to our systems, no telemetry, no online licence check.
Administration on site
The full console is served locally. Creating users, routing, reports, audit log: all of it is available without us.
Updates by physical media
Delivered signed on removable media, verified offline before being applied, with rollback if the site loses voice.

The degraded network is part of our tests, not part of our excuses.
Every release is put through deliberately bad network conditions before it is published.
